Precautions for the use of ultraviolet germicidal light

Date:Dec 16, 2020

Without protective measures, exposure of human eyes and skin to ultraviolet light for more than 3 minutes may exceed the human safety limits set by the World Health Organization and the International Commission for Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection. If it is directly irradiated for more than 15 minutes, it will damage the cornea and cause electro-optic ophthalmia, sudden severe pain in the eyes, foreign body sensation, photophobia, tearing, or blepharospasm. Long-term exposure can damage the eyes and skin, cause eye trauma and severe skin burns, and may cause skin cancer.

How to use in ordinary households? UV disinfection lamps on the market are divided into two types: ozone and ozone-free. Among them, 254nm is ozone-free ultraviolet rays and 185nm is ozone-containing ultraviolet rays. The ozone-type ultraviolet germicidal lamp has strong oxidizing effect and can effectively kill bacteria. The dispersibility of ozone can just make up for the shortcomings of ultraviolet rays only spreading in a straight line and disinfection. However, excessive ozone is an invisible killer. It strongly stimulates the human respiratory tract, causing sore throat, chest tightness and coughing, causing bronchitis and emphysema. It requires opening windows for ventilation. The ozone-free UV germicidal lamp only spreads in a straight line, and there are dead spots for disinfection, but the ventilation time is shorter and the risk is less. For families with elderly, children, and pregnant women, it is recommended to use the ozone-free type.

In terms of disinfection time, generally 30-60 minutes is appropriate to effectively kill viruses and bacteria. Take the disinfection time setting of a brand's flagship store as an example. In the space of 10, the 38W disinfection lamp needs to be irradiated for 30 minutes, and the 60W disinfection lamp needs to irradiate for 15 minutes; the 40 space, the 38W disinfection lamp needs to be irradiated for 60 minutes, and the 60W The disinfection lamp should be irradiated for 30 minutes. After disinfection, the ozone-free type needs at least 20 minutes of ventilation, and the ozone type needs more than 30 minutes to enter the room.

If you use it at home, it is recommended to choose UVC LED disinfection equipment, such as mask ultraviolet sterilizer, toothbrush ultraviolet sterilizer, underwear ultraviolet sterilizer, shoe cabinet ultraviolet sterilizer and so on. Environmental protection and pollution-free. The current cost is not too high. But need to protect us from irradiation rays.
